Shock revelation: Find out why Aubameyang was a no-show at Man City vs Chelsea as Sterling and Pulisic suffer injuries

Chelsea faced a tough task on Saturday as they faced Manchester City in the FA Cup third round. The Blues were already dealing with a lengthy injury list and their form has been suffering as a result.

To make matters worse, they were unable to call upon Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang due to a back issue. Graham Potter, Chelsea’s manager, revealed that the former Arsenal striker had a ‘tight back’ on Saturday.

Christian Pulisic, who was also injured in the Premier League match against Manchester City, is set to be out for several weeks after damaging his knee. Potter explained, “Christian just opened up his knee in the game the other day.

So, we’re still analysing it. It’s going to be weeks for him.” Raheem Sterling, who suffered a hamstring injury in the same match, is also set to be out for a period of time.

Despite the challenges they faced, Chelsea made six changes to the team that was defeated 1-0 in the Premier League. Injuries forced Potter’s hand, but he also rotated Marc Cucurella, Cesar Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva and Denis Zakaria out of the side. In their place, Lewis Hall, Bashir Humphreys, Trevoh Chalobah, Conor Gallagher, Jorginho and Mason Mount took to the field.

The match proved to be a difficult outing for Chelsea, as they were defeated 4-0 by Manchester City. While the defensive introductions were among the team’s better performers, Man City’s relentless pressing was too much for the Blues to handle.

Chelsea’s away supporters made their frustration known throughout the match, but Potter is confident that they will support the team once they begin to turn their performances around.

He stated, “We have to focus on the next day and the next match. We play on Thursday, it’s an important game for us. We need to stay together as group, we need to support each other and I’m sure we’ll get the support of the supporters when they see good performances and good results.”
