Moises Caicedo, a prime target for Arsenal, is reportedly on the verge of leaving Brighton and Hove Albion during the upcoming transfer window, according to renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Gunners have maintained a keen interest in the Ecuadorian international, identifying him as their primary target to bolster their midfield since last winter. Arsenal even made two official bids, reaching up to £70 million, in their pursuit of the talented midfielder.

Unfortunately for Arsenal, Brighton remained reluctant to part ways with their prized asset and rejected both offers, resulting in a failed deal and Caicedo staying put at the AMEX Stadium.

However, recent reports suggest that Arsenal’s interest in Caicedo hasn’t waned, and the talented South American remains on Mikel Arteta’s wishlist as they seek to strengthen their midfield options.

During a discussion on his YouTube channel, Romano stated that there is a “90% chance” of Caicedo leaving Brighton this summer, indicating that Arsenal is looking to reignite their pursuit and finally secure the services of the 21-year-old midfielder.

Caicedo’s potential move to Arsenal could face competition from their London rivals, Chelsea, as they are also rumored to have an eye on the young midfielder.

It is widely known that Arsenal’s top priority this summer is to revamp their engine room, with Declan Rice and Caicedo featuring prominently on their radar.

However, both midfielders excel in the deep-lying midfielder role, and Arteta typically does not deploy a double midfield pivot in his system. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether Arsenal will pursue the signings of both Caicedo and Rice, especially considering their existing midfield options in the form of Jorginho and Thomas Partey.

Nevertheless, Caicedo is an exceptionally talented player with the potential to become a world-class midfielder in the future. His acquisition would undoubtedly be a significant coup for Arsenal, should they manage to secure his signature at the end of the season. It has been suggested that the Gunners may need to invest around £80 million to secure the services of the promising South American this summer.

As the transfer window approaches, Arsenal’s pursuit of Caicedo underscores their determination to strengthen their squad with top-quality additions. If successful, securing the signature of the highly-rated midfielder would mark a significant step forward in Arsenal’s rebuilding process under Arteta.
