Nice Director of Sport, Dave Brailsford, is rumored to have a keen interest in appointing Graham Potter as the club’s next manager, according to reports. The Englishman is believed to be eager for the former Chelsea boss to take charge, despite the preference of the club’s Sporting Director for a candidate from Ligue 1.

Just over a month ago, Todd Boehly brought Potter’s tenure at Chelsea to an end. However, it is important to note that Potter was given a fair opportunity to reverse the fortunes of a team that was clearly sinking. Initially, after replacing Thomas Tuchel late last year, Potter enjoyed a strong start. However, the situation took a dramatic turn at Stamford Bridge as the Blues began to plummet down the Premier League standings.

To address the issues, Chelsea’s owner initiated somewhat of a rebuild in January, focusing on recruiting promising young talents. The club shattered their transfer record to secure the services of Enzo Fernandez and complemented his arrival with the signings of Joao Felix, Mykhailo Mudryk, and Benoit Badiashile.

If Potter were to be appointed at Nice, he would have the opportunity to work with several former Premier League players, including Ross Barkley.

Barkley, who saw his Chelsea career come to an end last summer, struggled to establish himself as a regular starter during his time at Stamford Bridge. While his spell at Chelsea didn’t pan out as expected, it seems only a matter of time before Potter continues his growth in the managerial realm.

Despite his initial promise, Potter was eventually replaced at Chelsea as the club slipped into the bottom half of the Premier League table. Frank Lampard has assumed the role of interim manager until the end of the season, but the change in leadership has not yielded significant improvements in the team’s performance.

Now, the opportunity may arise for the former Brighton boss to make a return to the game, with Nice reportedly considering him for the managerial position.
