Chelsea defender Levi Colwill is reportedly still keen on a move to Brighton this summer, despite being expected to join up with the Blues squad for their pre-season tour of the United States.

The 20-year-old enjoyed a successful loan spell at Brighton last season, making 30 appearances in all competitions and helping the Seagulls to qualify for Europe. He was described by Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi as “fantastic” and is said to be keen to return to the club.

However, Colwill faces a tough battle for regular first-team football at Chelsea. The Blues have a number of experienced defenders in their squad, including Thiago Silva, Wesley Fofana, and Trevoh Chalobah.

It is therefore understandable that Colwill is looking for a move to a club where he is more likely to get game time. Brighton are said to be willing to make a £20 million bid for the defender, and it remains to be seen whether Chelsea will be willing to sell him.

If Colwill does stay at Chelsea, he will need to impress new manager Mauricio Pochettino in pre-season. Pochettino is known for giving young players a chance, but he will also want to build a strong team that can challenge for trophies.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Colwill’s future in the coming weeks. He is a talented young defender with a bright future, and it will be exciting to see where he ends up playing next season.

In addition to the above, here are some other factors that could influence Colwill’s decision:

  • The level of competition for places at Brighton.
  • The club’s ambitions for the season.
  • The financial package on offer.
  • Colwill’s own personal preferences.

Ultimately, the decision of whether to stay at Chelsea or move to Brighton will be up to Colwill himself. He will need to weigh up all of the factors involved and decide what is best for his career.
