Arteta Urged to Make a Move for Chelsea star player to Strengthen Arsenal’s Attack

Following a highly respectable second-place finish in the 2022/23 season, Mikel Arteta has been advised to pursue an easy raid on Chelsea for a star who appears eager to leave Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal’s progress has been evident, and their return to the Champions League signifies a successful campaign in line with their pre-season objectives.

Now, Arteta’s focus is on taking the Gunners to the next level and mounting a serious challenge to Pep Guardiola’s dominant Manchester City. Despite finishing as the second-highest scorers in the league with 88 goals, Arsenal occasionally lacked a prominent figure leading their attack.

Gabriel Jesus performed admirably when available, but his injury-riddled campaign limited his impact, resulting in 11 goals from 33 appearances. Eddie Nketiah, his replacement, managed nine goals in 39 matches but often failed to provide the physical presence desired by Arsenal up front.

Darren Bent, the former striker, is now suggesting that Arsenal should target Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea. Lukaku, who was signed for £97.5 million from Inter Milan in 2021, is set to return to Stamford Bridge after a loan spell in Italy.

However, his time at Inter has not gone according to plan, marked by injury struggles, and he has recorded 13 goals in 34 appearances this season.

Considering Lukaku’s uncertain future at Chelsea and Arsenal’s readiness to part ways with Folarin Balogun, Bent believes the Gunners should make a big-money move for the 30-year-old Belgian striker. He argues that Lukaku would thrive under Arteta’s guidance at Arsenal and could provide more goals than Gabriel Jesus.

Bent envisions a scenario where both Lukaku and Jesus can coexist in the Arsenal lineup. He suggests deploying Lukaku as the central striker, moving Jesus to the left side of the attack, and potentially benching Gabriel Martinelli.

Bent emphasizes that it is a squad game and believes Lukaku’s presence in the penalty area would greatly benefit Arsenal’s attacking prowess.

With 279 career goals in 586 appearances, Lukaku boasts an impressive strike rate of a goal every 2.1 matches. This track record, combined with his physical presence and ability to find scoring positions, makes him an enticing option for Arteta’s Arsenal.

As the Gunners aim to close the gap with Manchester City and challenge for the Premier League title, the acquisition of Lukaku could provide the necessary firepower to propel them to greater heights. With Arteta at the helm and the potential addition of Lukaku, Arsenal’s attacking unit could be poised to make a significant impact in the upcoming season.
