Arsenal Set to Secure Declan Rice Signing Amidst Competition from Bayern Munich and Manchester United
In what could be a major coup for Arsenal, the Gunners have identified England international Declan Rice as their primary target for the upcoming summer transfer window. The North London club is expected to outmaneuver Bayern Munich and Manchester United in the race to secure Rice’s signature.
Although an official bid from Arsenal is yet to be submitted, talks between the Gunners and West Ham United have been progressing smoothly, as reported by The Guardian. This has generated a growing sense of confidence that the deal will be finalized in the near future.
Arsenal intends to table a substantial offer of £90 million for Rice, but West Ham has expressed a desire for additional add-ons that would push the transfer fee beyond the £100 million mark. Negotiations are ongoing to find a mutually agreeable resolution.
Agreeing on personal terms is not anticipated to pose a challenge, as Rice is eagerly looking forward to joining Mikel Arteta’s side. The Arsenal manager views the young midfielder as a crucial addition who can play a pivotal role in the team’s pursuit of another Premier League title in the forthcoming season.
Rice recently lifted the Europa Conference trophy after West Ham’s triumphant victory over Fiorentina in Prague last Wednesday. It is widely speculated that this was his final game for the Hammers, marking the end of an era at the club.
West Ham’s chairman, in acknowledging Rice’s desire to leave, commented, “We promised him he could go. He set his heart on going. You can’t ask for a man who has committed more to us this season.” Clearly, the club’s management recognizes Rice’s significant contributions and respects his aspirations for a new challenge.
The chairman further expressed the need to move forward and find suitable replacements for Rice, stating, “It’s not something we want to happen. We offered him £200,000-a-week 18 months ago, which he turned down. It’s cost him £10 million in lost wages to stay at West Ham during that time. And he wants to go. You can’t keep a player who doesn’t want to be there.”
While several clubs have expressed interest in Rice’s services, the West Ham chairman emphasized the importance of conducting transfer business with integrity, stating, “Out of respect to West Ham, while we’re still playing, you don’t make offers for players. That’s not the way decent clubs do things.”
As the transfer saga unfolds, Arsenal finds itself in a promising position to secure the signing of Declan Rice, despite facing competition from the likes of Bayern Munich and Manchester United. With talks progressing positively and personal terms not posing a significant hurdle, the Gunners aim to bolster their squad with the addition of the highly regarded midfielder, who could play a pivotal role in their ambitions for Premier League success in the upcoming season.
