Chelsea’s pursuit of RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku appears to be on the brink of completion, with Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth confidently stating that the deal is “as good as a done deal” at Stamford Bridge, according to GIVEMESPORT.

As the Blues aim to improve their goal-scoring fortunes for the upcoming season, manager Mauricio Pochettino will be banking on Nkunku to make a significant impact on the team’s attacking prowess.

According to renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the agreement to sign the RB Leipzig center-forward has already been finalized, with the player and the club reaching a contract agreement back in December. Romano reveals that the official announcement will be made after Nkunku’s international duties with France, as he is set to represent his country over the next week.

Reports suggest that Chelsea co-chairman Todd Boehly is prepared to part ways with a hefty £53 million to secure the services of the versatile forward in the Premier League.

This season, Chelsea’s goal-scoring struggles have been evident, as they ranked a lowly 15th in the Premier League goalscoring charts, managing a mere 38 goals in the top flight. Such a deficiency played a significant role in their disappointing 12th-place finish.

In light of these shortcomings, Pochettino is turning to Nkunku to provide the clinical touch in the final third that the team sorely lacks. The Argentine head coach aims to guide Chelsea back to European competition, and he sees Nkunku as a key piece in achieving that goal.

Paul Brown, an expert cited by GIVEMESPORT, recently expressed his excitement about Nkunku potentially joining Chelsea next season. Brown believes the Leipzig star’s arrival at Stamford Bridge could inject new life into the team.

Sheth concurs with the prevailing reports, affirming that Nkunku’s move to Chelsea is essentially a done deal. With this impending transfer, Pochettino will welcome his first fresh face at Cobham, Chelsea’s training ground.

When asked about Chelsea and Nkunku, Sheth stated, “I think he wants to bring in a striker as well. So that’s going to mean he’ll have to release another one. They’ve also got Nkunku coming as well. That’s as good as a done deal. So, there’s a player that Mauricio Pochettino will like.”

Nkunku, who was once praised as “world-class” by former Leipzig assistant manager Achim Beierlorzer, has enjoyed a stellar campaign in Germany and believes the time is ripe for a move to the Premier League. The French international has found the back of the net 23 times and provided nine assists in 36 appearances for RB Leipzig this season, earning him the Bundesliga’s top goalscorer award.

In contrast, Chelsea’s most prolific goal-scorer in the Premier League, Kai Havertz, managed a modest tally of seven goals and one assist. Clearly, Nkunku’s remarkable season surpasses the contributions of Chelsea’s current attacking options.

Given these circumstances, Nkunku’s potential arrival seems like a sensible solution to Chelsea’s goal-scoring woes. It is a signing that both Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter, the manager of Brighton & Hove Albion, may find themselves envious of, as they could have benefited from Nkunku’s impressive abilities.
