Arsenal Makes Record Bid for Declan Rice as Man City Interest Grows

Arsenal has reportedly made a groundbreaking offer for West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice, as they aim to beat rivals Manchester City in securing his services for the upcoming season. Rice has been Arsenal’s primary transfer target since the January window closed, and the Gunners are eager to finalize the deal swiftly.

West Ham, valuing Rice at around £100 million, has already rejected two bids from Arsenal. The midfielder is currently under contract until 2024, with the option to extend for an additional year.

In recent months, Arsenal has been considered the frontrunner to sign Rice, who has also attracted interest from Chelsea and Manchester United. However, Manchester City has now entered the race, leading to increased competition for the highly sought-after player.

On Tuesday morning, West Ham turned down a £90 million bid from Pep Guardiola’s side, consisting of £80 million plus £10 million in add-ons. Meanwhile, Arsenal’s best proposal thus far was a club-record bid of £75 million plus £15 million in add-ons.

However, the Gunners have now escalated their efforts. According to reliable reporter David Ornstein of The Athletic, Arsenal submitted a “massive offer” for Rice on Tuesday night. This improved third bid is reportedly valued at up to £105 million, with £100 million plus an additional £5 million in add-ons. It is hoped that this offer will be sufficient to fend off competition from Manchester City.

Should the deal go through, it would set a record fee for a British player, surpassing the £100 million that City spent on Jack Grealish’s transfer from Aston Villa. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano further stated that West Ham is eagerly awaiting a response from Manchester City regarding a potential counter-offer for Rice.

Speaking after West Ham’s victory in the Europa Conference League, club chairman David Sullivan revealed that they have made a promise to Rice that he will be sold this summer. Sullivan expressed understanding for Rice’s desire to leave and acknowledged the need to secure suitable replacements for the team.

With Arsenal’s audacious bid and Manchester City’s continued interest, the race for Declan Rice’s signature has intensified.

The next steps in this transfer saga will determine whether the Gunners can secure their primary target or if Manchester City will make a countermove. football fans await further developments as these two Premier League clubs battle it out for the highly talented midfielder.
