Arsenal to Consider Selling Thomas Partey if Suitable Replacement is Found

Arsenal will entertain the idea of selling midfielder Thomas Partey this summer, but only if they secure the right replacement. According to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, Partey is viewed as a potential source of funds, and he has attracted interest from clubs in the Saudi Pro League should he decide to leave the Gunners.

With Declan Rice inching closer to becoming Arsenal’s first signing of the 2023 summer window, some may perceive him as a replacement for Partey. However, with Granit Xhaka also departing, Arsenal will need to bolster their midfield further to fill the void left by both players.

Romano suggests that the current frontrunner to fill that role is Southampton’s Romeo Lavia. However, there is no guarantee that a deal can be struck for the talented teenager, as Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United are also reportedly interested in securing his services.

Replacing both Partey and Xhaka with Lavia and Rice would be a significant and somewhat risky overhaul for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta. While Rice brings experience and leadership to the midfield, Lavia is still young and it would be demanding to expect him to match Partey’s impact immediately.

However, Arsenal’s recent transfer moves towards young talents have yielded positive results, and Arteta has demonstrated his ability to effectively balance the squad. Lavia could potentially be an ideal partner for Rice, but it would be a bold decision.

In other news, reports suggest that despite Kai Havertz dreaming of a move to Real Madrid, he is fully committed to Arsenal after joining the club this summer. It was previously speculated that Madrid would make efforts to sign Havertz from Chelsea, but they were unwilling to meet the £65 million valuation.

Madrid had expressed interest in signing Havertz in 2020 before the Covid-19 pandemic disrupted their plans. While it had long been Havertz’s dream to play for Madrid, the Evening Standard reports that Chelsea had been preparing themselves for his potential departure to the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, Havertz is now set to join Arsenal and is reportedly content to remain in England and London for the foreseeable future.

The move to Arsenal appears to be a more logical choice for Havertz. It allows him to continue his charitable endeavors, and despite his struggles in the past three years in England, he is settled in London.

It is worth noting that Havertz’s desire to play for Madrid could resurface in the future, but for now, he has a long-term contract on the table at Arsenal, and any potential transfer speculation is premature.

If Arsenal can create an environment where Havertz thrives and Madrid’s interest persists, it would be a testament to the club and Arteta’s ability to extract the best from him as a player.
