Arsenal’s promising midfielder, Emile Smith Rowe, could be on the move to Aston Villa during the upcoming summer transfer window, as he grows increasingly frustrated with his limited playing time under manager Mikel Arteta this season.

Despite his impressive performances last year, where he found the back of the net ten times and provided two assists in 33 appearances, Smith Rowe has not started a single Premier League game for the Gunners this season.

He has only accumulated a mere 133 minutes of playing time. While some of this can be attributed to his injury absence earlier in the season, journalist Chris Wheatly reveals that Smith Rowe is still “disappointed” with his lack of opportunities on the pitch. Consequently, Aston Villa has emerged as a potential suitor for the talented midfielder, with reports suggesting that they are willing to offer him the regular first-team football he craves.

Wheatly, discussing the matter on The Chris Wheatley Show, confirms the interest from Aston Villa, highlighting Unai Emery’s admiration for Smith Rowe. Emery, who is now the manager of Villa, was the one who gave Smith Rowe his breakthrough opportunity at Arsenal during his tenure as head coach.

Wheatly adds that Smith Rowe is indeed disappointed with his current situation and speculates on the possibility of a move away from the club. He emphasizes the quality that Smith Rowe possesses and the unique dimension he could bring to matches, citing the recent game against Southampton as an example where Smith Rowe could have provided an alternative to Fabio Vieira.

Ultimately, Wheatly believes that the chance to revitalize his career could be an enticing prospect for Smith Rowe, making the move to Aston Villa a realistic option.

Smith Rowe first made his debut for the Arsenal first team in 2018, thanks to Unai Emery’s faith in his abilities. Now, under the guidance of current Villa manager Emery, a reunion between the two could be on the horizon.

However, Mikel Arteta has recently stated that Smith Rowe is determined to make his mark and be in contention for selection before the season’s end. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if Arteta’s words will be enough to convince the young midfielder to stay at the Emirates beyond this season.

As the summer transfer window approaches, the future of Emile Smith Rowe hangs in the balance. The possibility of a move to Aston Villa looms large, with the club offering him the opportunity for regular playing time.

Smith Rowe’s disappointment with his limited minutes at Arsenal, combined with Unai Emery’s admiration for the player, makes the transfer to Villa an enticing proposition.

However, Arsenal’s manager Mikel Arteta hopes to persuade Smith Rowe to remain at the club by assuring him of his potential involvement in the team’s upcoming matches. Only time will tell where Smith Rowe’s footballing journey will take him next.
