According to Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg, Arsenal is inching closer to securing the signature of Chelsea forward Kai Havertz.

The Gunners are expected to pay a minimum of £68 million to bring the German striker to the Emirates Stadium from their London rivals.

Despite not having his best season at Stamford Bridge, Havertz still emerged as one of Chelsea’s top goal contributors across all competitions, finding the back of the net nine times and providing an assist in 47 appearances.

Plettenberg reveals that Havertz is eager to join Arsenal, and personal terms between the player and the club are almost finalized. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is keen to have Havertz in his squad, alongside Gabriel Jesus.

Bayern Munich had reportedly inquired about the conditions to sign the 24-year-old but withdrew their interest upon learning that Arsenal was in advanced negotiations.

Bayern Munich is not looking to disrupt the deal and has stepped away from the situation. The finalization of the deal now depends on Arsenal’s last offer, as they need to indicate their willingness to pay the significant amount required to secure the services of the German forward.

So, where would Havertz fit in at Arsenal? Plettenberg suggests that Arteta’s scouting network has thoroughly analyzed the qualities of the 24-year-old, leading the Arsenal manager to believe that Havertz would be the perfect addition to his squad as a striker.

Moreover, due to his versatility, Havertz could potentially contribute in other attacking areas as well. The German forward, who is rumored to earn £310,000 per week at Chelsea, has made 139 appearances for the Blues since his move from Bayer Leverkusen, scoring 32 goals, including the match-winning strike in the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League final.

The potential addition of Havertz to Arsenal’s attacking options could provide a significant boost to the team. Arteta and his coaching staff have identified the qualities and potential Havertz possesses, which is why they are willing to invest a substantial sum in securing his services.

Should the deal be finalized, Havertz would have the opportunity to make a fresh start and rediscover his best form at Arsenal, while Arteta aims to utilize his versatility to bolster the team’s attacking prowess.

As negotiations progress, Arsenal fans eagerly await the outcome, hoping that Havertz will soon don the red and white colors and contribute to the team’s pursuit of success in domestic and European competitions.
